About our history

Measuring Success was founded in 2003 and grew out of research work in performance measurement by our founder, Sacha Litman, at the Harvard Business School, Kellogg Business School, and the Harvard Kennedy School from 2000-2003. Our founder was one of the pioneers in the field of non-profit performance measurement. His work in performance measurement for non-profits began while he was an analyst at McKinsey and Company, where he observed many approaches for for-profit clients and a found notable absence of such data in non-profit (pro bono) work. He soon developed a successful performance measurement system for a nationally franchised non-profit organization, where he was Director of Organizational Strategy. His methodologies and approaches have been published in the Stanford Social Innovation Review (inaugural issue), and he speaks regularly at Social Enterprise conferences.

About our people

Our team consists of professionals with a unique combination of skill sets in consulting, statistical analysis, and technology development, which to enables us to perform projects that strategy firms, software development firms and quantitative consulting firms cannot. "I honestly wasn't sure at first why we were asked to spend 6 hours reviewing the results of our survey. But now I understand it was worth every minute. You've saved us a year of strategic planning. I am very busy in my work, so as the board chair, this allows me to use my time so much better becasue I am basing decisions in data instead of sorting out a lot of processes and non-representative opinions or emotions when parents complain to me."
